Göppingen (dpa / lsw) – Handball goalkeeper Daniel Rebmann leaves the Bundesliga team Frisch Auf Göppingen at the end of the season and switches to league rivals VfL Gummerbach. That shared the table-16. on Friday with “I wanted to take the next step in my career and get to know another club where I can develop further, prove myself and then have to assert myself in sport,” Rebmann explained his decision. The currently difficult sporting situation of Frisch Auf did not play a role.
The 28-year-old moved from TV Neuhausen to Göppingen in 2017 and developed into a regular goalkeeper there. At the European Championships in January in Hungary and Slovakia, he made his debut in the DHB selection, for which he played four games. “Daniel’s decision is of course not the one we wanted. We tried very hard to extend his contract and would have liked to see him in the fresh-up jersey,” said Göppingen’s sporting director Christian Schöne.
