Burg (dpa/sa) – An unknown man ignored a police check on the A2 near Burg (Jerichower Land district) and caused an accident. As the police announced on Tuesday, the driver initially ignored the police officer’s stop signal on Tuesday night and then drove on at high speed. Shortly thereafter, the car left the motorway and fled further on the B1 in the direction of Burg. In the district of Detershagen, the car left the road and crashed into a concrete pillar. The perpetrator then fled the scene of the accident.
A helicopter and a sniffer dog were used in the search for the man. According to the information, the search has so far been unsuccessful. According to initial findings, the car had previously been stolen in Lower Saxony. According to the police, the theft had not yet been discovered by the owners at the time. The amount of damage caused is not known.
