A man in Bosnia killed his ex-wife and broadcast it live on Instagram. He also murdered two other people before taking his own life on Friday, police and media reported.
Police in the city of Tuzla, in northeastern Bosnia, reported in a statement that in addition to the three dead, three other people were injured before the killer committed suicide.
Prosecutors in Tuzla said that after killing his ex-wife, the man, who was armed with a pistol, shot dead a man and his son on a street in the nearby town of Gradacac. He also wounded a policeman, another man and a woman at different locations in the north-eastern Bosnian city.
“I have no words to describe what happened in Gradacac today,” Prime Minister Nermin Niksic said. “The killer took his own life in the end, but no one can take the lives of the victims back.” Authorities did not immediately provide further details or possible reasons for what happened.
The man, identified by Bosnian media as Nermin Sulejmanovic, posted an extremely disturbing video on Instagram on Friday morning, telling viewers they would be watching a murder live.
A video then showed him picking up a gun and shooting a woman in the forehead. In addition, in the video you can hear the cry of a child. The video has since been removed from Instagram.
During the police search, the suspect posted another video on Instagram, claiming to have shot at least two other people while fleeing.
Local press reported that Sulejmanovic, 35, was a fitness trainer and had previously been arrested on charges of drug smuggling and assaulting a police officer.
Police said the people who wrote supportive messages on the man’s Instagram posts on Friday will be questioned and could possibly face legal repercussions.
