A shipwreck worthy of a film scenario. However, the misadventure experienced by a sailor and his dog off the Pacific is very real. The Australian and his four-legged friend spent two months in the ocean aboard a catamaran. The man and his dog survived by eating raw fish and drinking rainwater before being rescued by a Mexican tuna boat, according to Australian media.
The survivor’s name is Tim Shaddock. Along with his dog Bella, he had left the seaside town of La Paz, Mexico in April and planned to travel about 6,000 km before dropping anchor in French Polynesia. But rough seas quickly damaged the boat and put the electronic equipment out of service.
The 51-year-old Australian sailor, emaciated face, shaggy beard and visibly tired from this adventure, explained that he survived by eating only seafood. “I only have fishing equipment,” he said. he clarified to the Australian television channel 9News.
“I just need some rest and good food because I’ve been alone at sea for a long time,” he said. Safe and sound, Tim and Bella should soon be brought back to Mexico.
