A judge sentenced a drug dealer who was a repeat offender to four-year imprisonment. He told him to change his career.

Anthony Newman, 31 years old, was arrested in Aberdeen with cocaine and cannabis valued at PS140,000 in January.

At the High Court in Edinburgh, he admitted to drug charges. He was previously jailed twice before for supplying drugs.

Newman was told by Lord Mulholland that he wasn’t very good at his current job.

Alex Prentice, QC, the Prosecutor, stated that he was seen by police in circumstances suggesting a drug transaction.

Officers gained entry to a Palmerston Road flat in Aberdeen and found Newman using the toilet.

A white powder was found on the bathroom, hallway and bedroom floors. Also, a box of drugs was found in the bedroom.

Aberdeen police searched additional properties and found cannabis.

Newman was told by Lord Mulholland that he would face a six year sentence if he hadn’t admitted to the charges.

Det Insp Robin Sim of Police Scotland’s Organed Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit said that Newman was guilty of supplying controlled drugs and should be sentenced.

“We want to make it clear to all those involved in drug supply into Scotland that you can expect to be targeted if your goal is to profit from the misery of others.”
