Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued across New York as New York City formally marks a heat wave.
The warnings are in effect for parts of New York and New Jersey.
A flash flood warning has also been issued for Orange County, such as Middletown, Port Jervis and Mechanicstown till 4:15 p.m.
Tuesday is going to be humid and hot with the potential for some downpours and thunderstorms beginning in the afternoon and continuing into the early evening hours.
A heat advisory also remains in effect for parts of New Jersey till Tuesday evening.
