It was foreseeable that this decision would be explosive: Sat.1 announced that it would broadcast the new show by controversial comedian Luke Mockridge and even change the program for it. The reactions are sometimes harsh.
After a long hiatus, entertainer Luke Mockridge is venturing back into the limelight. He now also gets start-up help from Sat.1. The broadcaster brings the 33-year-old back to the screens – and even changes the planned process.
On Twitter it said on Thursday: “Short-term program change. Sat.1 shows ‘A Way Back to Luckyland’, Luke Mockridge’s current program, on Friday, December 9th, in PrimeTime.” This means that the repetition of the ranking show “111 chaotic colleagues!” soft, which had originally occupied this slot.
Luke Mockridge’s program is the most successful comedy tour of the year, the TV broadcaster explains in the tweet. For the comedian, it is an attempt to gradually regain a foothold in the media landscape. In September 2021, a former partner of Mockridge made allegations of sexual violence against him. He had rejected the allegations, and the Cologne public prosecutor’s office discontinued the corresponding proceedings.
“Der Spiegel” also published a report in which several women accused the 33-year-old of abusive behavior. Mockridge then got into a tough legal battle with the magazine, in which he was largely right. The district court in Hamburg rated the “Spiegel” article as “inadmissible reporting of suspicions” and prohibited central passages from being disseminated further. The magazine, however, insists on its representation.
Because of this legal dispute, ZDF 2021 had already removed a “dream ship” episode with Mockridge from the program for the time being. But this episode is now shown. “We will broadcast the ‘Traumschiff’ episode ‘Coco Island’, which was produced in early 2021, on December 26, 2022. Luke Mockridge has a guest appearance in this episode,” confirmed a spokeswoman for the station to the “t-online” portal.
In addition, Mockridge also wants to start again away from the TV screens: In spring 2023 his new tour “Trippy” will start in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The current announcement by Sat.1 that Mockridge is also preparing a stage again immediately caused some harsh reactions. Under the corresponding tweet, supporters and opponents of the comedian’s rehabilitation fought verbatim.
“How disgusting are you please? It’s so dirty and embarrassing, you should be ashamed, dude,” is a comment that is not one of the most violent statements. “He’s not convicted, so innocent! Welcome back!”, On the other hand, explains a user on behalf of the other position.
