Condolences in Bruce Willis’ fate after it became public that the actor suffers from aphasia. But her life was also turned upside down by the diagnosis, Emma Heming Willis, the wife of the 67-year-old, now makes it clear.
Hollywood icon Bruce Willis was diagnosed with aphasia as a shock to many. But she is also suffering, the actor’s wife, Emma Heming Willis, has now explained in a conversation with the US portal “The Bump”.
She finds it difficult every day to take time for her own well-being, says the former model. “I put my family’s needs ahead of my own,” the 43-year-old explains. But that doesn’t make her a heroine: “That didn’t help anyone in my family.”
The level of caring for everyone else in her household ultimately affected her own mental and overall health, says Emma Heming Willis. “If you care too much about someone, you end up caring too little about yourself,” someone told her. That made her think. Her basic need is movement. “This is a time when I can switch off and do something,” notes the mother of two. It’s important to find something that makes you feel good. Then you can build on that.
In the past, her husband’s job also challenged her, says Emma Heming Willis. After the birth of her first daughter, she traveled a lot. “My husband signed on for three films that took us around the world, good old Bruce Willis style, in the first year.” In retrospect, however, this time in her life was perfect. In the meantime, however, the family had to go through a lot.
Bruce Willis’ family – his wife, ex-wife Demi Moore and children – shared a joint statement on Instagram in March 2022. The Hollywood star had to end his acting career at the age of 67, it said. The reason for this is the diagnosis of aphasia.
Aphasia is a speech disorder caused by damage to the brain. Those affected may have problems speaking and understanding language, including reading and writing.
Bruce Willis was married to Demi Moore from 1987 to 2000. Together they have daughters Rumer (33), Scout (30), and Tallulah (28). In 2009 he married his current wife, with whom he had two more daughters, Mabel (10) and Evelyn (8).
