After the ban on painful substances when dealing with dogs, police dogs are no longer used in some large locations in Lower Saxony and Bremen. In Bremen, this includes stopping groups of people or separating rival groups, as the interior department announced when asked by the German Press Agency. In Lower Saxony, too, the police refrain from using some service dogs at football games and demonstrations. Reason in both countries is that spiked collars are forbidden.
