A new water museum is being built in the historic water tower on the East Frisian island of Borkum. The association Watertoorn Börkum wants to provide information about drinking water production on the island, spa tourism and the history of the water tower from 1900 on six levels in the 30 meter high tower. From 2007, the association campaigned for the preservation of the then dilapidated monument and since then has raised donations and subsidies of around three million euros.
