On the Queen’s country estate in the English county of Norfolk, vacationers can live in a very special place. The gardener’s former home can now be booked on Airbnb, along with the park. However, the crowd is huge.
Sleeping very close to the queen – that’s now possible. A cottage on Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate has been advertised on Airbnb. This is the former home of the Queen’s master gardener.
The country estate in the English county of Norfolk is privately owned by the British royal family. The charming cottage has four bedrooms, six beds and can accommodate eight people on two floors. The rooms are furnished with furniture and pictures, all of which come from the Royal Collection and were once housed in a royal residence.
Numerous photos on the platform show what the accommodation looks like. From the outside, the little house is enticing with its ivy-covered walls, the furnishings are relatively simple compared to the owners: cream-colored seating, wooden furniture, a fireplace. A U-shaped fitted kitchen offers space for a whole squadron of butlers, but is not equipped with the very latest comforts. However, they should offer a porcelain service for five o’clock tea. The wood-panelled bathtub also beats a more everyday shower cubicle by far.
A particular highlight is the area, which boasts the gardens and parks of the Sandringham Estate. Pets are also allowed – up to three dogs, but please keep them on a leash when walking in the “formal” garden. Parties and smoking in the house are forbidden.
If you want to fulfill your dream of vacationing with the Queen, you have to be patient: there are still a few appointments available at the end of next year. The minimum length of stay is three nights, currently £1062 is charged for this, the equivalent of around 408 euros per night. However, one should hardly expect the 96-year-old Queen to personally welcome the guests, as is often the case with other Airbnbs.
