They include the police chief, captain, peacekeepers, and assistant police officers. These five officers were among those who arrested the terrorist attacker in Romans-sur-Isere on April 4, 2020. They were honored at the Velizy-Villacoublay, Yvelines, national police celebration ceremony on Thursday, July 7.
They were held in total confinement and then stationed at Rome’s police station when Abdallah Ahmed Osman was arrested. He had just killed two people and injured five others in a brutal murderous attack on the city. Christophe Castaner, then Minister of Interior, and the Director General for the National Police (DGPN), came to congratulate them.
They were made Knights of The National Order of Merit Thursday by Gerald Darmanin, Minister of Interior.
The investigation at the judicial level is ongoing. Abdallah Ahmed Osman was arrested for attempted murder and murder in connection to a terrorist enterprise. This happened four days after the knife attack which left five people injured and two killed. On April 12, the attack was reconstructed.
