It will be the sixth time in the history of the MTV Europe Music Awards that they will be held in Germany. In November, international stars are supposed to come and go in Düsseldorf. It is not yet clear who will be nominated for a prize.
The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) will be presented this year in Düsseldorf in the PSD Bank Dome. The organizer announced this in a press release. This is the sixth time that the award ceremony has been held in Germany. On November 13th, the MTV EMAs will be broadcast live to more than 170 countries, and as always, performances by top-class stars are planned.
The nominees as well as the artists and moderators will be announced at a later date. “Düsseldorf has a lively, vibrant, diverse and cross-genre music scene,” explains Miriam Koch, Head of the City of Düsseldorf’s Department of Culture and Integration. The EMAs would stand for diversity, internationality and diversity. “The state capital and this great event are a perfect match.”
Düsseldorf’s Lord Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller is looking forward to the international event. “This November, the international music focus will be on the state capital, which will become the hotspot of modern pop culture.”
The MTV EMAs were first held in Germany in 1994, more precisely in Berlin. In 2009, the award ceremony was again moved to the capital. In 2007 it was Munich’s turn, in 2001 and 2012 Frankfurt. In 2021, the MTV Europe Music Awards were broadcast live from Hungary. The “Generation Change” prize was awarded there for the first time. This honors activists who support the LGBTQ movement.
