Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) – In Baden-Württemberg, 31 people became lottery millionaires last year. The southwest shares second place with Bavaria, said Lotto Deutschland. Most of the new millionaires, namely 45, were in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2022. A total of 187 people became new lottery millionaires.

The Germans spent around 7.97 billion euros on the stakes – around 0.9 percent more than in the previous year. In November 2022, a player from Berlin received the highest lottery prize ever achieved in Germany at Eurojackpot with 120 million euros.

The winning number 49 was the most frequently drawn last year, closely followed by the 1st place third in the rankings, followed by the winning number 16. The least drawn number since the first Lotto drawing in 1955 is 45.
