Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – On the second weekend with the 9-euro ticket, there was a lot of activity again in the southwest. Especially along tourist routes, train traffic ran at summer temperatures with the “expected passenger volume”, as a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn reported on Sunday on request in Berlin. Information on individual routes was not given. Popular excursion destinations include Lake Constance and the Black Forest.
There was a disturbance on Saturday evening in Freiburg. According to DB Regio, the station there was temporarily closed because people were on a route. Delays and partial failures of connections were the result.
The cross-border train connection between Müllheim in southern Baden and Mulhouse in Alsace (Mulhouse) fell out on Sunday afternoon due to a lack of staff. Instead, buses should drive.
Before the weekend, Baden-Württemberg’s Transport Minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) advised, with a view to the 9-euro ticket, to use slower trains on particularly busy routes and not to take bicycles with you. In regional rail traffic, more or longer trains and additional staff on the platforms would be used on certain connections.
On the Pentecost weekend there was a large rush to the regional trains in the south-west.
With the special ticket, passengers can use local and regional transport throughout Germany for a month for 9 euros. Tickets are sold for June, July and August.
