Mühlacker (dpa / lsw) – After the accident with two dead in Mühlacker (Enzkreis) near Pforzheim, the investigators assume a prohibited car race. Initial findings would indicate that the 45-year-old driver of the accident car could have taken part in an illegal car race, police and prosecutors said on Monday.

According to the information, the vehicle drove at high speed from the B10 from Mühlacker towards Illingen on Saturday night. At the junction to Mühlhausen, the car left the main road, crashed into a tree and immediately caught fire. The 45-year-old and his 30-year-old passenger burned in the car.

At the scene of the accident, officials met a 30-year-old driver and two passengers who had reported the accident via an emergency call. The police suspect that the 30-year-old could have driven the other car in the illegal race. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the man.
