Bretten (dpa / lsw) – After the pollution of two rivers in Bretten (Karlsruhe district) with oil, the cause is now clear. As the police announced on Monday, last week there was a technical defect in a fuel line at a company’s depot between Bretten and Knittlingen (Enzkreis). As a result, the Saalbach and Weißach rivers were polluted with 100 to 200 liters of diesel.
A witness from the local fishing club noticed the pollution on Tuesday evening last week and informed the security forces the next morning. The fire brigade then set up four oil barriers. According to the police, the pollution was largely contained as a result.
