Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – Deutsche Bahn is working flat out to solve the problems with the Black Forest Railway. As a spokeswoman said on Thursday, experts are checking whether grinding the rails on the section between Hausach and St. Georgen reduces wheel abrasion. The railways are expecting a new situation shortly so that measures can be defined. On the route section, train passengers from Karlsruhe to Constance currently have to change to the bus. This significantly increases the travel time.
During regular inspections of the Black Forest Railway’s double-decker vehicles around two weeks ago, Deutsche Bahn again found increased wear on the wheels. Neither greasing the rails nor a regulated speed brought improvement. Until a solution is found, Deutsche Bahn does not want to use double-decker vehicles on the winding route.
