Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) – In Karlsruhe, a 500-kilogram bomb from the Second World War was found on a construction site near the freight station. The dud is to be defused on Tuesday by the explosive ordnance disposal service, as the city of Karlsruhe announced on Monday evening. According to the information, significant restrictions in road and rail traffic are to be expected.
The evacuation within a radius of 500 meters around the site on Stuttgarter Straße should begin at 8 a.m. and be completed by 1 p.m., it said. It was not immediately known how many residents were affected. The railway line between Karlsruhe main station and Durlach will be closed, as will the Mannheim-Basel line and the tracks of the freight station. Traffic on the B10 will also be interrupted for the time of the defusing.
