Pforzheim (dpa / lsw) – According to a media report, defects in concrete components for a bridge over the Autobahn 8 near Pforzheim could lead to delays of several months. When the finished elements were lifted into the bridge bearings, it was found that the heights of the individual components in some cases clearly did not match, reported the “Pforzheimer Zeitung” (Saturday), citing the federal Autobahn GmbH, which is responsible for the A8 expansion. There was initially no one available for questions on Saturday.

According to the report, the concrete slabs must be inclined towards the edge of the road so that rainwater can run off. However, this transverse incline was not created correctly, which led to the differences in height. The responsible construction company must be responsible for this and rectify the errors. This is comparatively easy to do, since a concrete layer about 25 centimeters thick still has to be applied. It should be a bit thicker now. Because of the planning required for this, the bridge could only be completed in late summer or autumn.
