Wangen im Allgäu (dpa/lsw) – On a motorway parking lot near Wangen im Allgäu (Ravensburg district), a car with five occupants crashed into a truck, rolled over and finally caught fire. The 24-year-old driver was drunk, without a license and allegedly drove too fast into the parking lot, the police said on Monday. He drove against a curb and then crashed into boulders that catapulted the car up. The car hit the cab of a truck, overturned, landed on the roof – and caught fire.
All occupants were able to free themselves from the burning car. A police spokeswoman could not say whether the truck driver was in the vehicle at the time of the accident on Sunday. The driver was slightly injured in the accident, the four other occupants between the ages of 16 and 32 were unharmed.
A breath test showed the 24-year-old had an alcohol level of more than two per thousand. He was also driving without a valid driver’s license.
