Heidenheim (dpa / lsw) – 1. FC Heidenheim has an eye on the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga. With a victory in the chasing duel with Fortuna Düsseldorf, coach Frank Schmidt’s team could at least take the lead for one night. That is also the stated goal, said the fourth-placed coach one day before the home game on Friday evening (6:30 p.m. / Sky).

Schmidt has to do without a trio against Fortuna. Melvin Ramusovic and Thomas Keller are out with ankle injuries. Substitute goalkeeper Vitus Eicher is missing due to a torn muscle fiber.

After only one defeat in the first seven competitive games, there is hardly any reason for the coach to change the starting line-up anyway. It is currently difficult to move into the team, said the 48-year-old. “But it’s also part of the game for the players at the back to put pressure on,” said Schmidt.

He has respect for the people of Düsseldorf. “They’ve been a top team since the change of coach,” said the coach. The Düsseldorfers could also temporarily storm into first place with a threesome.
