Achern (dpa / lsw) – Due to a fire in a sawmill in Achern (Ortenaukreis), train traffic on the Achertalbahn between Achern and Ottenhöfen had to be interrupted for around an hour on Tuesday afternoon. According to the police, an excavator caught fire in the sawmill. The fire then spread to logs and the embankment of the adjacent railway line. A firefighter suffered minor injuries from the smoke. The police assume a technical defect as the cause of the fire. The officials estimated the damage at around 450,000 euros.
