Enzkreis (dpa / lsw) – Four free-roaming cattle were shot after another was killed in an accident on the federal highway 10 near Remchingen (Enzkreis). As the police announced on Wednesday, the four cattle were found on Tuesday evening in a nearby wooded area, where a hunter eventually killed them to avoid further accidents. Meanwhile, federal highway 10 was closed for an hour and a half. Attempts to capture the animals had previously failed, police said.

Two of the five animals were crossing the road early Tuesday morning when one of them was hit by a car. The 30-year-old driver of the car was unharmed in the collision. The other animals stayed in the vicinity of the accident and fled.
