Ludwigsburg (dpa / lsw) – Two tricksters are said to have stolen several thousand euros from an elderly woman in Ludwigsburg with a supposed healing ritual. According to the police, a woman spoke to the 78-year-old on Saturday on her way home from shopping. The woman pretended to be a healer and told the elderly woman to free her from an alleged curse.
Another woman came along and corroborated the statements made by the false healer. After the three women bought eggs for the alleged ritual in the supermarket, the three of them went to the elderly woman’s home. After a prayer, the perpetrators demanded money, so the elderly woman gave them several thousand euros in cash.
The perpetrators put the money in two bundles of household towels, took one and left. When the senior found that her bundle of towels was empty, she filed a complaint, police said on Tuesday. The woman allegedly assumed that the money was in her bundle of towels, but this is not certain, according to the police. The exact course of the fraud is unclear.
