Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Because he attacked people with pepper spray on the open street, a 40-year-old in Freiburg was fined. This was reported by a spokesman for the district court on Tuesday evening, without mentioning the total of 120 daily rates.
The case caused a local stir because the accused ran for the AfD in the local council elections in 2019. After the verdict became known, around 50 to 60 people demonstrated in the city center to show solidarity with the victims. As a police spokesman reported, there were no special incidents.
The trial for dangerous bodily harm had lasted two months. The accused was accused of using pepper spray in a dispute with two young people in June last year. This was followed by an altercation with two eyewitnesses. A woman said in court she got the pepper spray right in her eyes. As the court spokesman said, a possibly reduced criminal responsibility of the accused was taken into account in the verdict.
