Offenburg (dpa / lsw) – Two Offenburg forwarding companies are said to have given their truck drivers several driver cards in order to trick the working hours. The owner of the two companies and his former traffic manager are accused of falsifying evidentiary data and forging documents, as announced by the public prosecutor and the police on Thursday.
The officials became aware of the forwarder and his ex-employee after the trade inspectorate found significant irregularities in the driver cards in the company. About a week ago, during searches of the companies and several apartments, corresponding documents, mobile phones and other storage media were confiscated. The evidence is still being evaluated. According to the announcement, the two forwarders are in insolvency proceedings.
Truck drivers use driver cards to show their driving and rest times, which they must comply with. The breaks are intended to protect against fatigue and accidents. A number of violations were found at the forwarders, said a police spokesman.
