Iffezheim (dpa/lsw) – The three-year-old stallion Queroyal is one of the favorites for the German Derby on the first Sunday in July in Hamburg after winning the derby trial on Saturday on the racecourse in Iffezheim. In front of 8,500 spectators, Queroyal secured victory in the race entitled 200 Years of German Galopprennsport Derby Trial against Magical Beat and Wild Man. Jockey Eduardo Pedroza rode the stallion from the racing stable of trainer Andreas Wöhler in Spexard near Gütersloh to a convincing success.
32,000 euros of the total endowment of 55,000 euros goes to the Paschberg stud of the Kirstein family, which is both the breeder and the owner of the winner. “We hope that the derby can go one step further,” said coach Andreas Wöhler. Jockey Eduardo Pedroza is riding in great form at the moment, winning five races at Dortmund on Thursday and now taking the main event of day two of the Iffezheim Spring Meeting.
