Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – TV Gengenbach has been honored with the “Big Star of Sports” in silver. The club from the district of Ortenau has developed a dice game in which children also have to master sporting tasks. The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative Association announced that the gymnastics club had motivated boys and girls to exercise during the lockdown in the corona pandemic. The state winner received prize money of 2,500 euros on Monday evening in Stuttgart and will represent Baden-Württemberg at the award ceremony for the “Stars of Sports” in gold at national level on January 23 in Berlin.

“The pandemic has made it clear to us how painfully we all miss sport when it is only possible to a limited extent. We have also seen the negative consequences of restrictions in sport,” said Sports and Education Minister Theresa Schopper (Greens): ” It was and is all the nicer and more important that clubs stand up to it”.

“Little Stars of Sports” in silver went to TSV Meßstetten (Zollernalbkreis) and TSG Weinheim (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis). There was prize money of 1250 euros each. The prize is advertised by the Baden-Württemberg Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken together with the German Olympic Sports Association. The awards go to clubs with special social commitment.
