Ahorn (dpa / lsw) – A 21-year-old was critically injured in a head-on collision of his car with a truck in the Main-Tauber district. The passenger in the truck was seriously injured. On Tuesday evening, the driver turned left into oncoming traffic on a state road in a district of Ahorn and collided head-on with the oncoming truck, the police said.
First responders managed to immediately extinguish the flames that had started in the rear of the car. The fire brigade had to free the young driver from the trapped car. He was flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. It was still unclear why he had left his lane.
The 43-year-old truck driver was reportedly unharmed, but his 27-year-old passenger was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the police, damage to the vehicles involved amounted to 65,000 euros.
