Zuzenhausen (dpa / lsw) – Soccer professional Christoph Baumgartner from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim founded a school in Uganda to support young women in particular. In the “Christoph Baumgartner Teaching School” in the municipality of Budaka, “young women in particular should receive an education after they had to drop out of school because of pregnancy or didn’t have enough money for it,” explained the Austrian international on Friday. “They often have great difficulty feeding themselves and their children. There are currently hairdressing and tailoring courses with 77 participants.”
The 23-year-old Baumgartner has not yet been there himself, but is planning a trip to eastern Uganda. Bundesliga club Hoffenheim is also socially involved in the African country, including with a reforestation project.
