Creglingen (dpa / lsw) – A man is said to have tried three times to steal a car in Creglingen (Main-Tauber-Kreis). In the end, the 49-year-old threatened the owner with a hammer – according to the police on Thursday without success. The man is in custody.
During the first attempt on Tuesday, the owner came towards him on foot on a dirt road. The suspect tried to turn around, got stuck in a meadow and fled on foot. However, when the owner wanted to recover his car, the man was behind the wheel again. When asked, he exited the vehicle and walked away.
The 74-year-old was finally able to salvage his car with a tow rope. However, the suspect returned and attempted to drive away a third time. The senior threatened the 49-year-old with a piece of wood and thus prevented the theft again. The suspect then threatened the owner with a hammer. However, the 74-year-old was able to get in and drive away. The police arrested the fugitive a short time later.
