Rosenberg (dpa / lsw) – Not blown up, but spread apart ATMs with a special hydraulic device: Investigators caught members of a suspected gang in the act, as the State Criminal Police Office and the Hechingen public prosecutor announced on Friday. Six men between the ages of 28 and 40 were arrested on December 21 in Rosenberg (Ostalbkreis). They are said to have opened an ATM and stolen a high five-digit amount of money.
Three people fled and jumped into the Kocher River. They were rescued from the water, two of whom had to go to the hospital with hypothermia. Another injured his knee trying to escape. The sextet is now in custody.
Other comparable acts from November 2021 are to be attributed to the alleged gang. Among others in Sigmaringen, Herdwangen-Schönach, Sauldorf, Löffingen and Titisee-Neustadt.
