Öpfingen (dpa / lsw) – Divers have recovered a missing 84-year-old dead from the Danube in the Alb-Donau district. As the police announced on Thursday, relatives had reported the man missing the day before Christmas Eve. Police and firefighters then searched for the man with drones, police helicopters and boats.

On Saturday morning, a police patrol found the missing person’s car on the Danube. Search dogs followed the trail of the 84-year-old several times to the river bank – so it was reasonable to assume that the man could be in the Danube. This fear was finally confirmed: On Thursday, police divers found the body of the missing person near Öpfingen (Alb-Donau-Kreis) in the Danube. According to the current findings of the police, there is no evidence of third-party negligence.
