Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) – In Baden-Württemberg, significantly more people applied for asylum in the first half of the year than in the same period last year. From January to June there were 8616, as the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (Bamf) announced on Thursday. In the same period last year, there were 6740 applications.
Nationwide, too, the number of asylum applications in 2022 rose by around 44 percent to 84,583 applications compared to the same half of the previous year, according to Bamf. According to the authorities, the numbers also depend significantly on the situation in the respective countries of origin of the refugees.
