Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – More women have habilitated at the universities in Baden-Württemberg. As reported by the State Statistical Office on Tuesday, the number of habilitations by women has recently increased by a good seven percent. The proportion of women among all habilitations completed in the southwest in 2021 was 31 percent – twenty years earlier it was 15.6 percent.
A total of 281 people habilitated at universities in Baden-Württemberg last year, most of them in medicine or health sciences. More than three quarters of those who have completed their habilitation completed their habilitation at the traditional universities of Freiburg, Heidelberg and Tübingen.
The habilitation is the highest university examination in Germany. It is usually a prerequisite for being able to take on a permanent, full professorship at a university.
