Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) – Five vehicles were involved in a rear-end collision at the Heidelberg motorway junction on Monday afternoon. A police spokesman spoke of a “chain reaction” with five injured. A 20-year-old driver drove into the car in front of him, pushing two other cars ahead of each other, police said on Tuesday. One of the cars involved in the accident left the lane, crashed into a concrete partition and entered another lane, where it collided with a fifth car.
The 20-year-old, his two passengers and two other drivers suffered minor injuries in the accident. Three of the five cars involved had to be towed away. The autobahn was temporarily closed and traffic was diverted to the hard shoulder.
