Hemsbach (dpa / lsw) – An attentive neighbor rescued an 80-year-old from his burning house in Hemsbach (Rhein-Neckar district). The senior suffered minor injuries, police said on Wednesday. The neighbors noticed the loud smoke detector and the heavy smoke on Tuesday evening and managed to get the 80-year-old out of the building before the emergency services arrived. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen. According to initial estimates by the fire brigade, the damage was in the six-figure range. The house is currently uninhabitable.
