Breisach (dpa / lsw) – The Association of Upper Rhine Fools’ Guilds has a new club chairman in Theo Schindler from the Black Forest municipality of Winden (Emmendingen district). This was reported by Schindler’s predecessor, Klaus-Peter Klein, on Sunday after the election in Breisach. Gudrun Reiner from Kenzingen became vice-fool master – the place is also in the district of Emmendingen.

Before the carnival in February next year, Klein was cautiously optimistic. “We hope that at most there will be a mask requirement,” he said, referring to the corona pandemic. He advised the member guilds to plan carefully. This is intended to limit possible consequences if events have to be cancelled. Because of Corona, things had looked bleak for the carnival fans in the southwest for the second time in a row this year.

The association claims to have around 30,000 members in 81 member guilds. The area extends in Baden from the Ortenau to the so-called border triangle on the border with France and Switzerland.
