Karlsruhe (dpa/lsw) – At the 45th International Handel Festival in Karlsruhe next year, the opera “Ottone – Re di Germania” is to be performed in a new production. The premiere of the work in 1723 in London will then be the 300th anniversary, as the Badisches Staatstheater announced on Thursday in Karlsruhe.
From February 17 to March 3, opera productions with international stars and concerts with renowned baroque musicians are on the program.
The Handel Festival was launched as a festival in 1978. It is entirely dedicated to the music of the German-English baroque master Georg Friedrich Handel (1685-1759). The festival takes place around his birthday, February 23rd. In times before the corona pandemic, they had established themselves as a magnet for visitors.
