Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The charge against the inspector of the Baden-Württemberg police for sexual assault does not go far enough for the alleged victim. The detective concerned lodged a complaint with the Attorney General against the partial cessation of the investigation by the Stuttgart public prosecutor’s office, as a spokeswoman for the prosecution announced on Friday. First, the “Stuttgarter Zeitung” reported about it.

It’s about the phone call that the highest-ranking police officer and the chief inspector had after the evening when the sexual assault is said to have happened. In view of this, the public prosecutor’s office in Stuttgart did not see sufficient suspicion of sexual assault and therefore discontinued the proceedings. The spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office said no decision had yet been made on the complaint.

Investigations against the woman who initiated the proceedings for the suspended inspector of the Baden-Württemberg police were discontinued some time ago. The detective was accused of having recorded an unauthorized video call with the inspector. The public prosecutor had declared that the official had not acted illegally due to a justifying emergency.

The Stuttgart district court recently approved the charges against the man for sexual assault. This is how the process is done for him. The police officer denies the allegations. The officer, who is said to have been the victim of sexual assault, will appear as a joint plaintiff.

According to the investigation, the police officer is said to have sexually harassed the police officer in Stuttgart about a year ago – in return for career advantages. According to earlier information, the public prosecutor’s office accuses him of “knowingly exploiting the fact that, due to his professional position, he was able to cause the police officer considerable professional disadvantages in the event of resistance”.

His lawyer Jens Rabe had announced that he would fight for an acquittal. It is regrettable that the public prosecutor’s office brought charges at all “with this evidence situation”.

Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) has also been under pressure because of the matter for a long time – according to his own statements, he had passed on a letter from the inspector’s lawyer to a journalist. A committee of inquiry in the state parliament examines sexual harassment by the police as well as the practice of promotion and Strobl’s actions.
