Rheinmünster (dpa/lsw) – Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport is approaching its previous record number of passengers after the Corona dent. As airport boss Uwe Kotzan said on Thursday, around one million passengers were counted by the end of September. He expects around 1.2 million passengers by the end of the year. In 2019, the airport had the highest number of passengers to date, at 1.3 million.

Most passengers take off from the regional airport in Rheinmünster-Söllingen (Rastatt district) with the low-cost airline Ryanair. The company announced on Thursday the “most extensive winter flight schedule to date” for Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden – with over 90 flights per week and 19 routes in total, including two new winter routes to Gran Canaria and Milan-Bergamo. Ryanair employs 60 people directly at the airport.
