Spraitbach (dpa / lsw) – A horse in the Ostalb district may have panicked so much due to fireworks that it was seriously injured and had to be put to sleep. The animal was found lying on a street in Spraitbach on Saturday, the police said on Monday.

According to previous investigations, it had previously broken through an electric fence and then jumped over another fence. It then galloped about 200 meters down the road, tripped and slid about 20 meters along the roadway.

The horse was euthanized by a veterinarian because of the severe injuries on site. According to the police, an approved fireworks display took place nearby. It is therefore conceivable that the animal was frightened by a cannon shot.
