Pforzheim (dpa/lsw) – From the point of view of the local Catholic community, human rights are being violated in the detention center in Pforzheim. In the Pforzheim deportation prison, the practice of religion has been restricted for years and human rights have been violated, said Markus Schütz, pastoral officer and pastor in the prison, on Wednesday evening. A regular service, such as on Sundays and with several prisoners in a larger room, is not allowed by the prison management.

In addition, the pastoral offer cannot be sent to the prisoners personally – for example with a flyer in different languages ??- said Schütz. “Only if a prisoner accidentally finds out about the offer and expresses a wish can we pastors visit him in a visitor’s cell during the general visiting hours. Especially in detention pending deportation, which means a lot of stress for the detainees, a low-threshold and open offer would be very necessary regardless of the time.”
