Baltmannsweiler (dpa / lsw) – After a robbery on a customer in a bank in the Esslingen district, the police caught the alleged perpetrator. The 34-year-old suspect is in custody, said the Esslingen criminal police and the Stuttgart public prosecutor on Tuesday.
The investigators accuse the man of having masked and robbed a 42-year-old woman on January 14, 2022 in a bank branch in Baltmannsweiler. Under threat of violence, the perpetrator forced her to withdraw money from her account and hand it over to him. The robber fled on foot and escaped.
At the time the investigation was successful, the man known to the police was serving a substitute prison sentence in a prison hospital, it said. After the arrest warrant was issued, the man was brought back there. He now has to answer for aggravated robbery. The police did not provide any information as to why the man was in the hospital.
