The corona-related closure of brothels has brought many prostitutes into financial difficulties in the southwest. The nationwide project “Works” wants to enable them to change jobs. On Friday, the leaders will take stock.

Ravensburg (dpa/lsw) – The leaders of the nationwide project “Works” for prostitutes to change careers will take stock on Friday (3 p.m.) at a press conference in Ravensburg. Since June 2021, prostitutes will be supported in four regions in the state with advice, coaching and group offers in their professional reorientation, the Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband in Baden-Württemberg announced in advance. The project in Stuttgart and Pforzheim as well as the districts of Enzkreis, Reutlingen, Tübingen, Ravensburg and Bodenseekreis will run until the end of the year.

Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, the already precarious situation of people in prostitution has deteriorated sharply, the welfare association said. The need for a career change has therefore increased. On the way there, the project wants to remove obstacles – for example by helping to find accommodation and arranging measures for professional qualification.

The Ministry of Social Affairs of the state of Baden-Württemberg supports the project with EU funds to respond to the corona pandemic.
