Iffezheim (dpa/lsw) – Jockey Martin Seidl and the two-year-old mare Quantanamera won the Winter Queen’s Prize on the racecourse in Iffezheim. The mare, who started as a favorite on Sunday, is now regarded as Germany’s best young galloper thanks to her victory. Andrasch Starke and Emore took second place in the race, which was worth 155,000 euros. Quantanamera won by an eight-and-a-half length advantage.
Andreas Suborics is the coach of the new winter queen in Cologne. “She is an exceptional horse,” said the coach. A year ago, the owner Jürgen Sartori paid 200,000 euros for the mare, and now he has returned 85,000 euros as a racing prize.
