Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Without the Japanese World Cup driver Ritsu Doan, but with all other national players, the Bundesliga soccer club SC Freiburg has completed its first training session in the new calendar year. The offensive player will not start until Tuesday, coach Christian Streich confirmed to the German Press Agency on Monday. Lukas Kübler was also absent due to problems with his Achilles tendon. In addition, Lucas Höler, Jonathan Schmid and Yannik Keitel only trained individually.
Keven Schlotterbeck is no longer part of the squad. The central defender joined league rivals VfL Bochum on loan until the end of the season and was already training there.
On Wednesday, the SC entourage will fly from Zurich, Switzerland, to the training camp in Spain. During the ten-day stay in Sotogrande, friendlies against FC Basel (January 7) and Hamburger SV (January 13) are scheduled. The first competitive game is then on January 21 at VfL Wolfsburg.
