Heilbronn (dpa/lsw) – According to the State Statistical Office, there are now more than a million pedelecs in Baden-Württemberg. As the authorities reported to the “Heilbronner Voice” and the “Südkurier” (Thursday), this number of privately owned electric bikes was exceeded in a not yet published survey for 2021. In 2020 there were still 860,000 pedelecs in Baden-Württemberg.

According to the statisticians, there were an average of 21.1 pedelecs for every 100 households in the southwest in 2021. The year before it was 17.6. Pedelecs are electric bicycles in which an electric drive supports the driver when he pedals himself.

According to the newspapers, the number of conventional bicycles without an electric drive in Baden-Württemberg is still around 9.4 million. This means that every household in the southwest has two normal bicycles on average.
