Mannheim (dpa / lsw) – Three employees and one ex-employee of the Mannheim correctional facility have received penal orders for sending swastika images. The men are said to have sent the swastika images from late 2017 to early 2020 via a WhatsApp group. The public prosecutor’s office in Mannheim announced on Wednesday that they had applied for penalty orders of 30, 60, 180 and 270 daily rates at the Mannheim District Court. If you have more than 90 daily rates, you are considered to have a criminal record. The number of cases ranged from one to 17.
One of the four men is also accused of sedition. He is said to have made derogatory remarks about black people. According to the District Court of Mannheim, the penalty orders in two cases are already final. In a third case, the accused lodged an objection. A main hearing has been scheduled for February 9, 2023. The situation of the fourth man is still unclear. A spokesman for the authorities explained that the long period of time before the penalty order was due to the complex cell phone evaluation.
The investigations against two other employees of the Mannheim prison were discontinued due to insufficient suspicion. Two other cases were handed over to the public prosecutor’s offices in Freiburg and Frankenthal, from whose areas of responsibility the pictures were sent.
